Ill Ray (The King) and Cersei Lannister queen of Leicester

If you’ve been asleep for the past ten years or living as a monk in Tibet then you may have an excuse to have not heard about Game Of Thrones, the fantasy phenomenon that has gripped audiences around the world. And now, with the final season to start in little over a week all the internet seems to be focused on is fan theories, leaks and novel length conspiracy theories about the characters. There’s also a rather popular fascination with what the actors in the show have previously done as for some people the characters within the show are all that anybody has seen them play. So I want to shed some light on one character’s actor in particular, the cold-hearted, brutal and badass bitch (not just my words) Cersei Lannister played beautifully by Lena Headey.

Whilst she was murdering her way through a whole heap of characters in Game of Thrones, she was also raising King Richard III back from the dead in a carpark in her hometown of Leicester. ‘Ill Ray’ by Kasabian features Headey in the music video and I think for most people, fans of the series or not, just to watch the video is a treat. The song’s a banger aswell.

From sinking pints in a pub to being ejected by ejected by the bouncers, demolishing a curry and being a menace in the city, Headey and Richard III (played by Michael Socha) make for a brilliant pair to watch. The video itself isn’t of a ridiculously high production value, nor does it feature any of the band and that’s fine because what it does have is Headey spitting chewed up pieces of poppadum out at heavily intoxicated Socha, draped in a traditional 15th century tunic.

So, if you’re bored of reading up about whether Jon Snow is the Lord of Light or where the White Walkers actually came from then give ‘Ill Ray’ a watch and see Cersei get drunk in a pub in Leicester.
